It might be the fact that I’ve seen so many films already and that the energy level has plummeted to a low, but the last films were hard to stay awake with. The IFFR volunteers party compensated Day 8, but Day 9 brought some other “hard-to-stay-awake” screenings.

It’s been great, no, not just great, it’s been terrific! Although I would have liked to cover every single day the day after, the Film Festival is taking about 16 hours of my day. So I’ll briefly cover my movies of the past 3 days. DAY 4:
Ah, yes, this would become the best day so far. Not only contains our shift a world premiere of the new dutch film TBS, but also a personal selection of potentially great movies. The results:
Day 2 off my IFFR experience this year started with the night shift at the VPRO Preview Day. Import Export, a slow moving documentary-like movie directed by Ulrich Seidl. Ouch, not my kind of cookie. It set my reality level back a bit and makes me appreciate my personal life more.
The opening night at IFFR and here are the result: Juno A great story, loaded with humor and a classic ending. I can understand why it is nominated for an Oscar! It fits perfectly in the Rotterdam setting. A must see IMO.
The tension is building as the International Film Festival Rotterdam is just around the corner. I will be one of the many (approx.500) volunteers that will be working at the festival this year. From Wednesday, January 23rd till February 3rd, film-critics, -buffs, -lovers,- enthusiasts, -makers, -directors, etc will gather in a lot of Rotterdam’s cinema’s. [...]
